About this power spot

A small pond tucked away deep in a primeval forest north of Lake Mashu. Hokkaido's official tourism site lists it as a power spot, noting that the fallen trees on the bottom, which appear to form a pentagon, look like a sacred barrier protecting the pond.

History

History

Its name, "Kaminoko-ike" (Pond of the Child of the Gods), is said to come from the legend that it is fed by underground water from Lake Mashu, which is called "Kamuy-to" (Lake of the Gods) in the Ainu language.
