How to choose

Nikko's accommodations fall into three main areas: the stretch from Nikko Station to Toshogu, home to the World Heritage shrines and temples; Lake Chuzenji and Oku-Nikko up in the mountains; and the hot spring town of Kinugawa Onsen. Stay near the station or Toshogu for shrine and temple visits, in Oku-Nikko for lakes and highland nature, and in Kinugawa Onsen for hot springs and family-friendly attractions.
