    Kushida Shrine (Kushida Jinja)

Known affectionately as "Okushida-san," this is the chief guardian shrine of Hakata. A decorative Hakata Gion Yamakasa float is displayed on the grounds for most of the year, so you can see one up close even outside the festival period. The nearest station is Kushida-jinja-mae on the Nanakuma subway line.
