Overview

Overview

One of the Kaga Onsen villages, with an onsen town stretching along the Kakusenkei Gorge. The central soyu (public bathhouse) Kiku no Yu is a public bath in a Tenpyo-style building, easy to drop into on a day trip. It is about 30 minutes by local bus from Kaga Onsen Station.

Kakusenkei Gorge has a walking trail of about 1.3 km from Korogi Bridge to Kurotani Bridge, with highlights including Korogi Bridge, built entirely of Japanese cypress, and Ayatori Bridge, a magenta S-shaped bridge. At Kiku no Yu, the men's and women's baths are in separate buildings, and the women's bath is attached to Yamanakaza. Yamanakaza hosts Yamanaka-bushi dance performances on weekends and public holidays, and Kasanotsuyu, a free foot bath, is next to Kiku no Yu.
