Overview

Overview

An onsen area rich in nature, spreading across a basin at the foot of Mt. Yufu. It has a wealth of sources, about 850 in all. There are also public baths and day-use facilities, which you can enjoy together with a walk around Lake Kinrinko.

These are typical volcanic hot springs with a wide variety of spring types, such as alkaline simple springs and sodium-chloride springs that take on a bluish or milky tint over time. On the shore of Lake Kinrinko is Shitanyu, a thatched-roof public bath, and in town there are Otomaru Onsenkan, also used by locals, and the city-run onsen facility Quarju Yufuin.
