Overview

Overview

An onsen town along the Otani River, famous for hopping between its public bathhouses (sotoyu). A one-day pass gives unlimited entry to the town's public bathhouses. The official guidance states that the public bathhouses can be used even if you have tattoos.

Public bathhouses, each with its own character, are scattered around an onsen town with the Otani River and arched bridges. With Ichi no Yu and its cave bath, and Kounoyu and Gosho no Yu that open in the morning, hours and closing days differ from bath to bath, so the classic approach is to combine them as you go. Take the ropeway up Mt. Daishi for a panoramic view of the onsen town and the Sea of Japan.
