This area covers tropical-feeling Miyazaki City, Aoshima, surrounded by the Devil's Washboard rock formations, the Nichinan Coast, and Udo Jingu, whose main hall sits in a seaside cave. Winters bring lots of sunny days and are warm, with January highs around 13°C. On the other hand, annual rainfall is 2,626 mm, with lots of rain during the rainy season and typhoon season.

Cherry blossoms usually open around March 23. April highs are around 21°C and warm, a lovely season for sightseeing along the coast.
In southern Kyushu, the rainy season usually runs from around May 30 to around July 15, and June rainfall is 516.3 mm. After the rainy season, it's hot, with highs around 31–32°C.
Typhoons often approach in September, with 370.9 mm of rain. October highs are around 25°C, and there are many days with good waves in autumn too, so surfing is fun.
January highs are around 13°C, with mornings around 3°C. The sun is warm during the day, but bring a jacket for mornings and evenings.

A park on a hill overlooking the Nichinan coastline, known for its seven Moai statues, reproduced with permission from the Council of Elders of Easter Island. The highlights are the Moai standing with their backs to the sea and the views across the spacious grounds. It's about 40 minutes by car from Miyazaki Airport and can also be reached by local bus from Miyazaki Station.
