Overview

Overview

A dance festival that began in Sapporo in 1992, combining Kochi's Yosakoi Festival with Hokkaido's Soran Bushi folk song. Apart from two rules — dance holding naruko clappers, and include a phrase from Soran Bushi in the music — anything goes. About 270 teams with some 27,000 dancers perform at Odori Park and other locations around Sapporo, drawing about 2 million visitors.
