Highlights

Highlights

The view from Hiraiho hill across South Lake to Engetsu Bridge and Kikugetsu-tei is Ritsurin Garden's signature scene. At the Kikugetsu-tei teahouse, said to date from around 1700, you can enjoy seasonal Japanese sweets and matcha, and the roughly 30-minute Japanese boat ride around South Lake with a boatman guide is also popular. The Neagari Goyomatsu, a raised-root pine grown from a bonsai, is another highlight.
