Otaru Snow Light Path
Hokkaido ・ Otaru
Usually about one week in early to mid-February (around the same time as the Sapporo Snow Festival)
2027: Feb 6 – Feb 13
A park in Temiya, Otaru, and the city’s best-known cherry blossom spot. About 690 trees, including Ezo-yamazakura and Somei-yoshino, usually bloom from early to mid-May.
Bloom times differ by variety, and the yaezakura in the botanical garden bloom later. Check the cherry blossom information from the Otaru Tourism Association for the latest conditions
Peak times are typical guides. Blooming and full bloom shift with each year’s temperatures.
The highlight is the “Sakura-zaka” slope, planted alternately with Somei-yoshino and Ezo-yamazakura. In the park’s Temiya Greening Botanical Garden, double-flowered yaezakura such as Kanzan and Fugenzo, as well as weeping cherries, bloom a little later, so you can enjoy blossoms even after the Somei-yoshino. It is a large park of 19.7 ha, with a chestnut grove of about 700 trees.
