Opened in 1921 (Taisho 10), the park has about 150 varieties of cherry. Horse-drawn carriages slowly travel the avenue of blossoms that runs about 2 km from Sango Bridge, and koinobori carp streamers fly above the Kitakami River. During the cherry blossom festival, the avenue is illuminated at night and you can enjoy its reflection on the river.
