Hiraizumi, Chusonji, Motsuji, Geibikei Gorge
The area around the World Heritage site of Hiraizumi, home to Chusonji with its Konjikido (Golden Hall) and Motsuji with its Pure Land garden. It also includes Geibikei Gorge, known for its boat rides. Located inland in southern Iwate Prefecture, it sees summer highs of around 29°C, while winter mornings drop to around -4°C (temperatures are for Ichinoseki).
