Matsumoto / Kamikochi Weather & What to Wear
Matsumoto, Matsumoto Castle, Kamikochi, Norikura Highlands
An area covering the castle town of Matsumoto, home to the National Treasure Matsumoto Castle, plus Kamikochi at about 1,500 m at the foot of the Northern Alps and the Norikura Highlands. Matsumoto has an inland climate with little rain — 1,045 mm a year — and lots of sunny days. Kamikochi is much cooler than Matsumoto City, and private cars are banned year-round, so you travel there by bus or taxi from the Sawando or Akandana parking areas.
