Koyasan, Okunoin, Danjo Garan
A sacred center of Shingon Buddhism on a mountaintop about 800 m above sea level. With 117 temples, it's a place where you can stay overnight at a temple lodging (shukubo). Temperatures are about 5°C lower than in Kyoto: summers are cool, while in winter many days drop below 0°C and snow falls.
