Aoi Matsuri on the 15th. Beautiful fresh greenery in Arashiyama and Higashiyama
May in Kansai brings lots of sunny days and beautiful fresh greenery. Kyoto's high is 25.1°C and mornings are around 14°C. There are more days warm enough for short sleeves, but humidity is low and the muggy summer heat hasn't arrived yet. On the 15th comes the Aoi Matsuri, one of Kyoto's three great festivals, and along the Kamo River and in Kibune the yuka season begins, when you can dine on platforms over the water. Golden Week in early May is crowded.
Temperature, precipitation, snow and sunshine are climate normals (1991-2020). Sunset is for May 15.
