Kyoto, Arashiyama, Gion, Fushimi Inari
The ancient capital at the heart of Kansai sightseeing, home to Kinkakuji, Kiyomizudera, Arashiyama, Gion and Fushimi Inari. Because it sits in a basin surrounded by mountains, summers are hot and humid, and winters bring sokobie, a chill that seeps into your bones. Big temperature swings year-round are typical.
