Central Tokyo's high is 26.1°C, and humid, muggy days become more common. On the bright side, hydrangeas are at their best in Kamakura and Hakone, offering scenery that only rainy days can bring.

Include places you can enjoy indoors — museums, aquariums, teamLab, shopping malls — in your plans.
It's hot and humid outdoors, but trains and shops have strong air conditioning. A layer that's easy to put on and take off keeps you comfortable.
During the rainy season it's often cloudy, and days when you can see Mt. Fuji are few. If Mt. Fuji is your goal, you have a better chance in winter.
The blue hydrangeas at Meigetsuin, also known as the 'Hydrangea Temple', and the hillside covered in hydrangeas at Hasedera are favorites. On weekends there can be lines just to get in.
The mountain railway slowly winds its way between hydrangeas blooming along the tracks. Some sections are lit up at night.
About 3 million hydrangea blossoms fill Shimoda Park.
