A mountain area made up of the UNESCO World Heritage site Nikko Toshogu and Oku-Nikko, home to Lake Chuzenji and Kegon Falls. Temperatures on this page are for Oku-Nikko (about 1,290 m above sea level), near Lake Chuzenji. Nikko town, where Toshogu is located (about 600 m), is roughly 4–5°C warmer.

Sep–NovNikko's busiest season, for the autumn leaves. The Irohazaka road gets badly congested on weekends, so we recommend setting out early in the morning.
